The StartSun (Start-ups for Solar Energy Communities) project has published a Sustainability Plan for Energy Community in Terraced Housing Company. This document complements the previously released Start-up Package (in Finnish) and offers perspectives on the long-term development of energy communities.
While the Start-up Packge focused on supporting the establishment and planning of energy communities, the Sustainability Plan examines the continuity and sustainability of operations over the long term. The plan evaluates sustainability through four key themes: economic, technical, social, and environmental sustainability. It also explores the interconnections and overlaps between these areas.
As a practical example, the plan utilizes the Marttila terraced house pilot project—already featured in the Start-up Package. This example illustrates how various aspects of sustainability can be integrated into the planning, implementation, and development of a solar energy community.
The goal of the Sustainability Plan is to help energy communities identify key success factors and to support decision-making in a way that ensures operations are sustainable from multiple perspectives.
